Juarez Mission Trip 2008

After much prayer and consideration, we are happy to announce that we will be taking a team to Juarez, Mexico, this summer for a short-term project. Although Juarez is a border city, like Reynosa is, the opportunities to serve there will be slightly different. Juarez is located across the border from El Paso, TX. Once again, we will be working with MTW and BEAMM (Border Evangelism and Mercy Ministries), as well as coming alongside the missionaries and pastors who are already in place there, to assist them in their work. Juarez is a city where there are several new church plants, and a concerted effort is being made to reach out to the community. To that end, we will be assisting with sports camps and/or English camps. The BEAMM staff are in the process of purchasing a piece of land for building a community center, so it is also likely we will be involved with construction.

Dates for the trip are July 19th-26th. The team will be led by Armand Chenelle and Carol Jones, with Geoff and Ruth Dagg heading up fundraising, and Yvonne Mohrbacher making our travel arrangements. Please be praying that God would begin to build a unified team, and that our hearts would be open and ready to serve.

Juarez Team Update

The Juarez team wants to thank everyone who came to the Valentine's dinner. A special thanks to our chef, Ken Hervieux, and to our mystery entertainment M.C. Clint Donnelly. The team raised over $1200 after expenses.

Auction and Mexican Food Night!

Our next fundraiser will be a service and gift auction to be held on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. We will be auctioning babysitting, housecleaning, yard work, dinners in your home and assorted manual labor. This year we will have a new twist and will be offering assorted gift baskets (great for Mother's Day or a special friend) and large next-to-new items. If anyone has next-to-new furniture, sports equipment, etc. that they would like to donate, please speak to Ruth Dagg. Please don't bring that leftover bag of used nylons from your attic or any clothing. We would like the owners to place an approximate value on each item in order to ease our auctioneer's task. Also, if any member of the congregation has a vacation property, or timeshare that they would consider donating, please contact Ruth by March 15th so we can compile a list of items to be auctioned a head of time. Vacation time and large items donated Will be considered tax deductible.

The auction will be the main entertainment, but we will have assorted Mexican food entertainment throughout the evening. More details will be forthcoming.
