Prayer Chain

We all need to be reminded that the Bible calls us to “pray without ceasing”(1 Thess. 5:17). There are many opportunities to do this:

  • We should pray in our personal devotions and at family worship.

  • We can pray in our Shepherding Groups and small group Bible studies.

  • We can ask our Pastors and Elders to pray with us and for us.

  • We can ask for specific prayer on Sunday morning when we meet for worship.

We also have the Prayer Net in our church. The Prayer Net is the 911 of our church prayer life! We want the prayer net to be used for requests that are Immediate, Urgent and Corporate.

Immediate: Prayer requests should focus on your immediate family or church family.
Urgent: Please ask us to pray for specific situations that people are facing right now.
Corporate: We want to pray for matters that are appropriate for corporate prayer such as evangelism, the ministry or mercy and our nation.

In addition: celebratory news related to our church body is always welcome on the prayer net. We want to rejoice with you in the Lord over newborn babies, good news about your health and about the job the Lord provided for you in answer to prayer. And these are just a few examples.

This means that some matters should be prayed for in other settings rather than put out on the prayer net. You are always free to personally ask a few close friends to pray when you need encouragement or for minor issues like ailments and routine surgeries. It might also be better to ask these friends to pray for distant relatives or neighbors for whom you have concerns but are strangers to the rest of us. But if the need is serious and you really want us to pray about it we certainly will. Specific details of marital problems or inner family difficulties are better left to pastors, close friends and shepherding groups.

We want to encourage the use of the Prayer Net for spiritual 911 type praying.

With love in Christ,

Pastor Brad
(with input from a number of prayer warriors in our church)
